LONDON, UK, Sep. 17, 2009 – HP today announced partnerships with two world-renowned designers to create special edition
laptop companions. Acclaimed designer, Tord Boontje brings his unique blend of design and emotion to the HP Mini 110 and fashion designer Vivienne Tam will create her second ‘digital clutch’ for HP.
HP Mini 110 by Studio Tord Boontje
With head turning style inspired by nature, the 10.1-inch HP Mini 110 by Studio Tord Boontje is for women who are both design and environmentally conscious. It features the industry’s first three-dimensional PC surface technology called HP Imprint 3D that involves multiple layers to make the art appear to float on the surface while casting a shadow onto a lower layer giving a unique depth effect to the distinctive
laptop.
The Mini is adorned with flora that weaves delicately around endangered animals and unravels onto the palm rest and touchpad. Discovering the endangered species hidden in the layered 3D design is like an expedition to the four corners of the world. White with mother of pearl accents is used, providing a striking and elegant product that goes with any situation.
Crafted with environmentally friendly materials, the packaging and documentation are all printed with soy-based inks. The box, cushions, and user guide pages are made from 100 percent recycled material.
Weighing just 1kg, measuring just over 2.5cm, and featuring a 92 percent full-size keyboard, this is the accessory you will want to have with you everywhere. With built-in blogging and Twitter tools you’ll be able to stay in touch with your friends and keep up with the latest news in your room, at the local café or on your way to work.
The
laptop also features a protective sleeve made from organic cotton, 15 wallpapers, screen saver and icons designed by Tord. An optional matching PVC-free wireless mouse and a handbag made from natural materials are also available to complete the look.
The HP Mini 110 by Studio Tord Boontje will be available on 22 October, 2009 for an estimated street price of £349[1]
Vivienne Tam special edition
The new Vivienne Tam design follows the very successful collaboration on her “China Chic” style launched at last year’s Fall 2008 fashion show. This new ‘digital clutch’ design echoes Tam’s Spring Summer collection which was unveiled at the Bryant Park fashion show in New York last weekend. The collection takes its inspiration from the fifty year anniversary of the Chinese ballet and focuses on a story of romance, independence, freedom and transformation. Patterns and shapes are the standouts in her latest collection which are reflected with beautiful butterfly designs in pastel hues.
The next Vivienne Tam ‘digital clutch’ will be available early 2010 in EMEA. Pricing will be announced closer to availability date.
