Wyse Technology Raises the Bar on Virtual Desktop User Experience With Introduction of New Virtualization Software

New TCX Multimedia 3.0 and TCX USB Virtualizer 2.0 Components of Wyse’s Virtualization Software Suite Set New Standards for Multimedia and Device Performance on Virtualized Desktops

London. – SEPT. 23, 2008 - Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced an updated Virtualization Software suite providing new USB peripheral and multimedia acceleration capabilities designed for Wyse thin clients connected to virtual desktop environments from Citrix, VMware, and Microsoft.

The release of TCX USB Virtualizer 2.0 (Beta) and TCX Multimedia 3.0 software demonstrate the continuous innovation that drives the Wyse TCX Suite.  These innovations are focused on vastly improving the end-user experience in a thin computing environment while also helping to reduce costs.

Multimedia Acceleration Extends to Windows Vista VM
The new Wyse TCX Multimedia 3.0 software expands the capabilities of the well-received earlier version of this software to now support Windows Vista virtual machines running on VMware VDI, as well as Citrix XenDesktop and Microsoft Hyper-V.  With Wyse TCX Multimedia 3.0, IT administrators can offload the processing required to deliver multimedia content from the server onto the Wyse thin client for local rendering.  This leads to a rich and smooth full screen, full frame-rate multimedia experience for the end user, while enabling as much as an 800 percent increase in server scalability.  (See Wyse's whitepaper "Handling Multimedia under Desktop Virtualization for Knowledge Workers" for more details).

USB Peripheral Virtualization Capabilities Enhanced
Today's beta release of the Wyse TCX USB Virtualizer 2.0 software also expands the capabilities of the well-received earlier version of this software to now support Windows Vista virtual machines running on VMware VDI, as well as Citrix XenDesktop and Microsoft Hyper-V.  More importantly, this new release also provides the widely-anticipated support for isochronous devices.  IT administrators managing virtual desktop environments can now selectively enable their end users to use a large variety of authorized USB devices, such as thumb drives, scanners, CD and DVD readers, Webcams and USB headsets.

"Wyse continues to work toward eliminating the gap between a thin client and a PC," said Jeff McNaught, Chief Marketing Officer for Wyse Technology.

"The release of TCX Multimedia 3.0 and introduction of TCX USB Virtualizer 2.0 emphasizes Wyse's commitment to continuously innovate and make virtual desktops deployments easier than ever."

Wyse TCX Multimedia 3.0 and TCX Virtualizer 2.0 work with Citrix, Microsoft and VMware environments and are available immediately, each priced at $25 per-client.
