Optimize Your Website With Keywords [Detailed]
« Posted: July 27, 2007, 02:03:40 PM »

In the very first article of mine I talked about optimizing a website for better traffic and for better search-engines' results.

What does optimizing a website actually mean? It means you optimize a website so that the search-engines and web-crawlers can have a better look of the website. It means the website has got a high targeted keywords density and a targeted traffic. High targeted keywords density? If you have advertisements on your website, you should be aware that targeted ads make more money than random ads.

What are targeted ads? For an example, Manfred has a website and it's topic is guitars. He has targeted ads on his website, which means that most of the ads are on the same topic, guitars. So how do targeted ads guarantee the most clicks? Think logically, if the website's topic is guitars, it should be obvious that majority of the website's visitors are interested in that particular topic. If not, they shouldn't be visiting the website. Interested visitors mean targeted traffic.

If Manfred didn't know about SEO (search-engine-optimization) and the importance of targeted keywords, his ads were on random topics, eg. want to join the army? or get the best mortgage or something like that... and since the majority of the visitors were interested in guitars in general, he got low click rates, his ads were not targeted.

If you have the right keywords on your website (targeted keywords), the ad-server does the rest to show the right ads on the site. How to get the right keywords or should we ask where to find the right keywords? Hold on, first i'm going to tell you where to use them.

You can use the keywords in titles, in the website title and in descriptions. It is recommended that you use the keywords also in article titles. Why? This is for search-engines. If search-engines can't find your website, then who can? It should be logical that for the best ad results you should use the keywords in the content pages, too.

I'm going to show you how to optimize a short text with some tools. The text is:

Are you interested in earning money? Well, you could join a hype program if you don't want to read our article. You can earn money by selling products that you do not own. That's called affiliate marketing. You need to invest a little to get started with affiliate marketing but you don't need to invest anything into this thing we're learning at the moment.

I'll convert this text into an HTML document so that i can use the tools. First i have chosen to use Keyword Popularity Tool. I'm going to check two words at the same time: earning money. The results show that Per Hour (average) is 2.82. That's really low.

I'll open another tool, Ontology Finder. What does this tool do? This tool tries to find synonyms of the keywords you enter. I'll enter the same two words into the field. We now see that the best keywords are earn and financial.

Hey wait, so i change earning money into earn financial? Sometimes you have to choose another keywords, your website can't be filled with keywords. Let it be earn money instead.

So, are these two words better then? Well, i don't know, you have to check yourself, lets open our first tool again, the Keyword Popularity Tool. It is better indeed, because it's Per Hour (average) is 25,79. And see, that tool also shows you another word combos that you should think about (though the first one is the best).

Now you know how to get keywords and how to replace your keywords with them. Don't get over accelerated, too many keywords often show bad results as it confuses the ad-servers. I'll open a third tool to check my keywords' density. I'll try Search Engine Spiders and type our URL page into the field.

Our result shows that we got only 2 keywords that the ad-server will see and those are marketing and affiliate. The ads will be targeted to those topics, if you're lucky. Well, you can optimize those keywords, too, but for the best result it is recommended that you raise the amount of the first keywords. How? Never buy an e-book to read how to do that. There are tons of free articles that'll teach you to do this. The best tip: Use your head.

Visit Manfred-Knows.com for the tools and to read more.
